For Beginners       *      For Improvers       *       For Intermediates       *       For Masters

Aside from being a full-time professional Bridge teacher, Ranald is a highly experienced bridge player and has represented Ireland internationally and Leinster nationally.

Most recently he was runner up in the 20011/12 National Mixed Teams (Coen Trophy) and has qualified to represent Dublin East in the National Pairs Final.

As in 2011, Ranald will be acting as coach to Ireland's 2012 Lady Milne team.

"I believe that students learn best when they're enjoying themselves and so there is a lot of interaction and variety in my classes. Try one and see!"

Beginner classes broadly follow the CBAI’s (Contract Bridge Association of Ireland) structure and guidelines, with several sessions of Mini-Bridge to start. Mini-Bridge is a variation that novices particularly enjoy because it involves them quickly in card-play and allows the intricacies of the game to unfold at a manageable pace.

For improvers, advanced and expert players, I have a large portfolio of presentation topics. I run regular seminars in Central Dublin for both improvers and advanced players (including the National Ladies Team) but would be delighted to tailor a series just for your club.

Each session is normally 2½ to 3 hours with a short break in the middle. Each start with a presentation of the subject, followed by the playing of prepared hands and a discussion on the bidding and the play. Notes are provided at the end; where appropriate. The emphasis is on fun and interaction.

Play & Learn Seminars are also available, by arrangement, for Expert players. This is where 10 randomly dealt, pre-analysed boards are played followed by a discussion on the bidding and play.
